PAOLO ROVERSI

Paolo Roversi was born in Ravenna. His passion for photography was revealed earlier, during a summer holiday in Spain in 1964. Back home, he set up a darkroom to continue his practice. He learned alongside a local photographer, Nevio Natali who teaches him everything.

 

In 1970 he began working for the press. During the same year, Paolo opened his first portrait studio in Ravenna to photograph local celebrities. Paolo was invited by a friend in 1973 to come in Paris and never left.

 

Then he began his career in fashion, as an assistant for Lawrence Sackmann. A year later, he appears in Elle, Depeche Mode, Marie Claire until the Dior campaign in 1980 which provides him a great professional recognition. In 1981 he opened his own studio, the "Studio Luce". He also worked for Comme des Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto, Romeo Gigli... Next to that activity, he continues making portraits and shooting commercials. He still collaborates with leading fashion and cosmetics brands and fashion magazines. His work will be the subject of several books and many exhibitions.
