JULIEN DAJEZ
"I was born the 28th of August 1972 near les Buttes-Chaumont. I started to study art at the very classical Ecole Boulle where I spent three years and I did not become a cabinetmaker, or a designer, or an interior designer. Duperré, the Parisian school of art and design in fashion and communication, taught me what is a creative director, a typographer, a graphic designer, a photographer and an illustrator. That is how I decided to become a film director. When I started to work in Paris, several directors and graphic designers encouraged me to make short films using the technical equipments from post-producers I was working for. Among this artistic work, two films awarded in international festivals (Bio-Zoo et U-MAN) aroused a certain curiosity from agencies and productions. This is how I began to work on many typo animations and idents and packshots directions. But things really became exciting when I started to direct films where I could associate art direction, shooting and post-production. I particularly like films of trends where I finally got to formalize my discussions with the actors in fashion (Première vision). In another film, I compared the shape of a car with the one of a flying saucer, a gem with a speedboat (Alfa Roméo). Daily objects have become the heroes of a graphic identity for a kid channel (Nicktoons) and skin problems of beautiful Natacha have turned into dark clouds and flapping butterflies (Garnier Nutritionist). In fact I like to give to design and sets the features of authentic characters in order to explore the emotions that humans feel when they come into contact with them.
For Pixies, Julian produced the Féloche's clip, "La vie Cajun".
